Here is a lesson plan that can be covered in 30 to 40 minutes, or made into a more in-depth study over a few days. It highlights the lesson objective: “Read biblical accounts of miracles of healing.” (Christian Life and Faith: Spiritual Insight and Awareness: Healing-1a)
Watch “Video: Blind Bartimaeus” and/or “Video: A Plan to Help a Friend.”
Read “Jesus’ Healing Ministry.”
Talk about how during Jesus’ ministry on earth He healed many people. Ask the children what other stories they remember of Jesus healing someone. Look up and read some of the stories. (For example, raising Lazarus from the dead [John 11:38–44], healing the man at the Pool of Bethesda [John 5:1–15], the man with the withered hand [Mark 3:1–5], and another blind man [Mark 8:22–25].)
Read in Matthew 10:1, Luke 9:1, and Luke 10:9 how Jesus gave His disciples the power to heal people when He sent them out to spread the good news about the kingdom of God.
Read “The Acts of the Apostles: Healing of the Lame Man.”
Read “Miracles in the Bible: Paul’s Protection from a Viper Bite.”
Read more accounts in the book of Acts of the disciples using God’s power to heal people. Here are some to choose from:
You too can pray for yourself or others to be healed. “Pray a Way: God Heals” gives you a couple of sample prayers you could pray when praying for healing.
